Toshiba Business Solutions Pro-Am: Competition and Camaraderie

The first-ever Toshiba Business Solutions Pro-Am proved to be a lot of fun. Competitors played in the Pro-Am on Pinehurst No. 8 prior to the CMAA National Club Championships in early November 2005.
"It was a huge success with 84 participants including 29 PGA of America professionals, competing for a $15,000 purse in an event approved by the Carolinas section of the PGA," explained Bruce Lucker, executive director of the CMAA National Club Championships.
The Pro-Am focused on a great opportunity for club champions to round out their foursome with their club pros and two other guests, offering a friendly networking event on one of Pinehurst's championship courses.
"The corporate support for this year's National Club Championship in Pinehurst exceeded all of our projections with sponsorships from Callaway, Toshiba, Bridgestone, Nickent, MaxFli, Waterford, BoardRoom Magazine, Prize Possessions, Whispering Peaks among others," he added.
Club champions competed for the Toshiba Business Solutions National Club Championships title and trophies.
The No. 8 opened in 1996 to commemorate Pinehurst's centennial year. Tom Fazio incorporated signature Ross features into the design, including dips and swales around the greens, sloping greens and false fronts. The greens and tees are close together, making it a pleasure to walk. As the site of the PGA Club Pro Championship in 1997 and 1998, it's a proven championship course challenging and delighting those who play it.
Brent Colston, president of Toshiba Business Solutions Florida, noted that TBSFL began its relationship with CMAA by becoming a diamond partner of the Florida chapter in 2004.
"Sponsoring the CMAA Pro-Am event is a wonderful opportunity for Toshiba to expand their involvement with this exceptional organization that devotes so much of its time to giving back to their local communities. We are proud to see this relationship grow to a national level," he said.
Bob Greenhalgh, president of TBS Carolinas added, "Toshiba Business Solutions sees its sponsorship of the CMAA Pro-Am event as a way to introduce Toshiba's business services and corporate philosophy to the national spectrum of club managers. We believe that this is the beginning of a long-term, mutually beneficial partnership. I am happy to co-host this inaugural event in the Carolinas, in conjunction with our parent company."
